Preliminary Study of Antibiotic Dosing Interval in Renal Dysfunction

Abstract
A number of factors associated with kidney disease may predispose patient to drug toxicity. Renal disease can affect the pharmacokinetic disposition as well as the pharmacologic effect of drugs. Renal patients are more sensitive to certain agents and experience an increased frequency of adverse reaction with or without appropriate dosing modification. This study showed the treated group of the antibiotic therapy was 3.7% and the administered maximum items of antibiotics was 4 in renal dysfunction. The appropriate antibiotic dosing interval according to individualized renal function was 39%. These need to monitor the appropriate antibiotic dosing modification in renal dysfunction carefully. Based on this study, we suggest that the appropriate antibiotic dosing modification should be evaluated by pharmacist in renal dysfunction. Hope this preliminary study to be used to antibiotic surveillance program in hospital.
